The first annual NWVC Show ‘N Tell Day was a nice
reprieve from the winter doldrums and was a great time. Nick and I had to leave
after the first hour for another commitment but the place was buzzing with VW
conversation when we left. Nick had to walk out the door to get me outta there!
Thanks to Bryan Zuhse for organizing this for us and I hope to do this again next year. There were toys, parts, pictures, literature, etc. and plenty of VW tales to go around. We had visitors from the Sheboygan Volkswagen Club and the Milwaukee Volkswagen Club. Nick and I drove Hubert the Sunbug and it felt good to have him out on the road again. He was running great. There were a few other folks who drove their dubs on Saturday, too.
Before I left, I announced the projects for the April 13th Fix-It Day at Keith and Jenny Wiegmann’s in Oshkosh. We had 7 choices to choose from and we narrowed it down to 2 or 3 choices. The candidates with the most votes were the following.
Various items for a chasis restoration (Split Window
Beetle) – Jim Bremer
Complete brake system overhaul (69 Bus) – Bryan Zuhse
Replacement of a window regulator (70 Beetle) – John Moore
John Moore advised that his window regulator just may be fixed by April 13th so if that happens we will be concentrating on the other 2 projects. I’m sure we will have enough to do with the other 2.
I’ll post more on the Fix-It Day as it draws closer, but wanted to let you know what we will be looking at doing that day so you can plan on attending if you’re interested. We’ll be looking for experienced and inexperienced club members to help us enjoy a day of VW work, fun, and learning. So mark your calendars for Saturday, April 13th. If you can’t stay for the entire day, drop in and see how we’re doing whenever you can.
